The moment I stepped into the lodge I loved it. The incredible and friendly staff were very helpful and kind. They kept the grounds nice and clean, and the facilities were always tidy and ready to use. Not only that but the various spaces made it quite welcoming and made my stay much more pleasurable. I’m sad to be leaving. But I’ll definitely be coming back.

Nasty hosts! The hostel was great location, the hostel facilities themselves were acceptable and always clean. However the hosts Dean and Simone at times were unnecessarily forceful and just rude. We had dramas right from the start when checking in. My partner was from a different town but lived in a suburb that had the same name as one that was in the Townsville region, they downright weren’t going to let her stay because they don’t accept local people staying, even if it was just for one bloody night! I had to make a point of Dean looking at the post code on her licence. My partner and I were in a double room, the day we were checking out, we put some of our bags outside our room ready to be loaded into the car. Dean was at a nearby room doing cleaning, he could see that we were getting ready to check out but he still had to make a point of stating when checkout time was (everyone naturally is aware of when checkout time is!). I continued packing our things only to check the time three minutes later it was still only 955AM! On top of this, upon checkout both hosts lied to my face about my partner being given back the $20 key deposit, so we never got our key deposit back! Be warned guys! 😡😡
