Mixed emotions. This hostel compound is absolutely outstanding! From the many hammocks to the swinging lounges and entertainment areas, cooking facilities and much more I was completely and utterly satisfied with my decision to book some time here! The location is ideal and central, close to many transport hubs, clubs, pubs and shops. The let down here for me was customer service/experience. At check in I immediately felt like I was interrupting their time for something else they were working on. At check out I requested to leave my bag in a friend's room while we went for breakfast. I was explicitly told I could not do this (strange as my friend paid and leased that space). Could have been bad timing however as my friend was being forced to move rooms against her wishes and into a unisex room which she was unhappy with. When we got back from breakfast all her belongings had been moved to the new room. I don't like to drag on with the negative stuff because on the plus side the maintenance and up - keep of the entire complex was superb! It was clear to see where management's priorities lay. Just wish I felt more like a customer and less like a nuisance. Townsville Rocks! Peace out x

Admin reply: Thank you for the nice description and comments about the hostel. Sadly a few points are very wrong. In the information sheet you are given on check-in we advise to ensure dorms and rooms are not used to store other peoples bags and to "PLEASE" use the lockers provided. This is all explained at check in so I am unable to understand why you chose to use your friends dormitory to store your bags. The girl you are talking about was not in an all female dorm, as we do not have any. All dorms are unisex. As we required the room for another booking she was asked to move to another dorm. Her bags were moved simply because the cleaners had to clean the room and she had not moved bags as requested. We do not lease rooms, people pay on a weekly or daily biases. So sorry you felt a little neglected not sure why, as there is someone on call all of the time and yes we are currently are very busy as we are doing a lot of maintenance in the last few week. Thank you again for the "GREAT" positive points you bought up and hope the rest of your holiday goes well.

Upon arrival I was instantly made to feel welcome. The room was both clean and well appointed. I enjoyed the relaxed and peaceful atmosphere of my six day and six night stay. I am looking forward to staying there again next year.

a few deceptions with this backpack :
- we gave 3 times our credit card details and never knew if and when we had paid
- website is unclear : we put credit card details but no reservation is made and confirmed only 24h after (or more)
- rarely anyone at the office. We felt like we were disturbing everytime we had a question or a request and had to wait for 15min for someone to show up
However, clean and well equiped.

Your credit card details we got from you were destroyed as we do not like holding peoples card details any longer than we have to. 1st time was to hold your booking for your online inquiry / 2nd when you checked-in / 3rd time was due to your early check-out in place of your security deposit. A simple look at your account would very quickly tell you if we had charged you more than once.

Website is very clear and a pop-up tells you exactly what is happening after you submit your booking details. In 12 years you are the first person to have any problems with this.

The office is not maned all the time but has a bell for good reason, this is so we can tell if people need assistance . The only reason you waited 15 minutes was because we were at lunch, which was clearly stated on the sign giving a time that we were to be back in the office.

Thank-you for your nice comment about being well equipped and clean. Hope you have a great time for the rest of your time in Australia.
