Wow Slept like a log both Mum & daughter,sooo Q U I T E considering we stayed for the 3rd time on a Friday Night. Arrived 7:30 pm. Room 24 to die for. Private room with an very affordable price (sleeps 4) own shower/toilet a/c tea/coffee, fridge, blow-dryer,inside table setting for 4 & T.V. The internal surrounding facilities SPOTLESS. Fresh Herbs are grown here. And there is a smoking area, we both don't smoke but couldn't smell any odours other than the snippet of fresh mint. Laundry with HUGE dryers. Thoroughly rejuvenated us from Rockhampton driving through to Cairns.10/10 Tks  Admin reply: Thank you for taking some time to leave your feedback and we are always happy to see such a raving response by one of our guest. NEVER again condesending abrupt disrespectful, the morning i left there - and i paid a top price. Sign out 10am, my train left at 3.34pm. Dean you're always nice with a lovely attitude! I'm aged 63, from Brisbane, disabled with a walking stick and very respectful. After you politely explained the rules of my suitcase not being allowed to stay after 12.30pm as i was leaving the backpackers at 10am, I asked a trustworthy guest at your complex to mind my suitcase as I'd planned to go to Magnetic Island and would collect my suitcase at 2pm. We'd swapped phone numbers. I was unaware it was NOT allowed. Smiling because that's me, I told your partner at reception about my plan when i handed in my key. I was met with abruptness and a VERY bad attitude from your partner for the 2nd time out of 3 stays I've had there, over MANY years, while you've been manager Dean! Sure there may have been trouble with ppl leaving their bags with others tho at age 63, and believing the man was safe, i had my whole day planned. Your partner offered a payment locker which was too small. There IS a place to leave bags inside the backpackers short-term with no security. I left my suitcase there. I was abruptly informed the suitcase had to be collected by 12.30pm by your partner. My key had to be handed in by 10am. Your partner said the entrance door is unlocked until 12 noon. So i had to be back before 12 noon NOT 12.30pm if i wanted to collect my things. I mentioned this and received an abrupt, parrot fashion reply, i HAD to be back by 12 noon to get INTO the complex, tho the bags WERE allowed to stay until 12.30pm! That... is what I'd just repeated back to her, as you Dean had politely explained it the day before, and she had explained it moments before. Dean you kindly let me stay for 4 nights on short notice as my booked motel was too noisy. Your backpacker lodge is always super clean and quiet. I spoke to your cleaner commenting the place is always spotless. She was lovely, there's always lovely cleaners there! YOUR customers - are NOT ALL BAD can you tell your partner to smile and show SOME respect please? So my last day left me feeling like shyte because of your snakey partner. It also ruined my day's plan. I wished I'd discussed my plan with you Dean, NOT your ARROGANT, IMPOLITE, ABRUPT, NON SMILING partner! For the price, i expected AT LEAST a LITTLE RESPECT as i left the Reef Lodge Backpackers! Twice your partner has been disrespectful towards me, over 2 different stays spanning your management. Luckily i avoided her on one stay! Keep her AWAY from the public please Dean?   Admin reply: Hello Yeresa, Firstly thank you for leaving your post and yes I do remember your numerous stays with us very well… Regardless, the single issue which you are so upset about is the storage of baggage. You state …“After you (Dean) politely explained the rules of my suitcase not being allowed to stay after 12.30pm “… and …“I was unaware it was NOT allowed.”… This is a contradiction of your statement. However I did tell you that morning the only choice for storage until 3-00pm was a $3 locker. So, you chose to ask one of the Canadian boys in 26B to store your bags in his dorm… You say the locker was too small however this is not the case, as I carried your bag for you when you arrived and the large locker would fit them in... You state you “paid top price” we are a backpacker’s hostel, not a Hotel or Motel and at $59 for a private room, I’m not sure why you have mentioned this, but figure you feel that since you paid such an amount it gave you more rights than the other people staying… “I'm aged 63, from Brisbane, disabled with a walking stick and very respectful.” Now regardless of age or ability we try to ensure everyone is treated equally and fairly. You stated you are “very respectful” so, were was the respect when you ignored what I had said about your bags… On a final point, I heard much of the conversation with you and my wife and yes, she was somewhat irritated and quite annoyed, what you have said here is exaggerated. She stated the same things I had already told you. I certainly don’t think the very nasty things you have stated here are very becoming. 亲爱的中国同胞们，大家如果来Townsville旅行。 reef lodge真的是您的不二之选呢。这里的厨房很干净，厨具齐 ，是我住过的旅舍中厨房最干净的一个。整个旅舍以海 为主题设置，很温馨。需要钥匙才能进入大门，外人进 来所以比较安全。离灰狗和去磁岛的码头大概步行十分 ；离超市大概十到十五分钟步行。离公交车站大概两分 步行。 I stayed in reef lodge for almost a month and I had a great experience living there.Firstly the kitchen is the best of all the hostels I've been to. Secondly, It has a great location. 10 mins to greyhound/ferry station to Magnetic island. 2 mins to bus station and about 10mins walk to Woolworth. Thirdly, it's a safe place to stay. You have to have a key to pass the main gate. Non-guests are not allowed to go inside of the hostel. If I got a chance to go back to Townsville I definitely will stay there again  Admin reply: Hi Fiona and thank you for such a lovely post. I hope your travels back home and your studies all go well. Second time I stayed here and the nice gardens and quiet atmosphere was very relax. very clean and good set out for traveler. Nice people running backpackers was very friendly. What a great week both my wife and I had staying at your great hostel, with very clean and quiet facilities that where great, and to both Dean and Simone thank you for your help when anything was needed and that was a great help. This is just not a hostel for young people but also for us over 50, we will be back. Thank you Doug PS - will tell all our family and friends of your great place about our great stay with you. We had an amazing stay at reef lodge. Very clean, very friendly funny owner. We had a double room for ourselves whichwas cosy and clean. Wish we could have stayed longer! Beautiful hostel, loved the decorations. Biggest thing that stood out was the peace and quiet at this place, not a party hostel which was amazing! Fully recommend to traveller's who want a bit of down time Admin reply: Thank you for the nice post and happy to see you enjoyed your time here. As an 'oldie' once again I'm going to stay at the Reef Lodge. My last stay 8 years ago and my holiday before then was excellent. Super clean - their noise / respect rules I greatly appreciate - and the managers are super-helpful. I particularly like the Double or Twin rooms though I've stayed in a dorm too which was also very clean, safe and quiet. Cyclone Debbie is threatening the coast atm though in the big picture, it wouldn't stop me from holiday here again! Excellent workers all-round at this backpackers... Come on people over 50 join me there! Admin reply: Happy to see Debbie would not have put off. As it happened she didn't come any where near us.
